Full Time/Part Time
LEAD Preparatory is currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Floater. The ideal candidate will join a team consisting of a Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher responsible for the development, general supervision, and management of a class of children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment and preparing needed materials and supplies
- Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room
- Assists teacher in maintaining a clean and orderly classroom
- Participates in the arrival and dismissal of students
- Participates in activities outside of the classroom
- Conducts classroom activities when teacher is absent and substitutes in other classrooms
- Assist Lead Teacher to supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children enrolled at the Center
- Participates in program planning and communicates observations to others
- Handles behavioral and other emergencies as per policy and procedures and/or behavioral performance
- Communicates observations and/or concerns regarding students’ physical and psychological status
- Completes data collection in an appropriate and timely manner
- Participates in staff meetings and supervisory conferences as scheduled
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in Early Childhood Development/Education or related subject area/CDA (Childhood Development Associate) preferred
- Early childhood education, special education experience and/or educational background
- Familiar with students’ handicapping conditions and their impact on performance
- Ability to have good working relationships with supervisors, staff, parents, and outside personnel
- Must have the ability to work in a challenging environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
